Riverland Adventure Challenge

Experience Riverland . . .

The Riverland Adventure Challenge invites you to enjoy the beauty of the North Saskatchewan River valley by canoeing from Fort George – Buckingham House (FG-BH) historic site, 10 km; running or walking, 5 km; then cycling along Alberta’s Iron Horse Trail, 15 km, returning to FG-BH.

This event will take from two – five hours, depending on your skill levels. Costumed interpreters will guide you on your journey and a voyageur meal awaits you at the finish line.

Fur traders, including David Thompson, traveled this route over two hundred years ago.  Support volunteers will bring canoes back to FG-BH, provide water stations and administer first aid.

This stretch of the river is flat paddling, although it will be swift following the spring melt.

This event is not a race; it is a personal challenge.  Prizes will be awarded to the oldest team, youngest team (combined age), team traveling the farthest distance and best costumes.  Visit kalynacountry.com and albertaslakeland.com for information on camping and more ‘paddling and pedaling’ while you are visiting Riverland.
